Biograd na Moru

Biograd na Moru

The town of Biograd na Moru is located 30 km south of Zadar and is a local commercial, transport and nautical center. The coastal part where the town of Biograd is located is the most articulated part of the Adriatic coast. Thus, the city with the Bošana bay in the north, and the Soline bay in the south and the small islands of Planac and Sveta Katarina in front of it has become a very popular destination for the nautical tourism. The Adriatic highway passes through Biograd, the city has a bus station and there is the ferry port for the island of Pašman. As a result, Biograd is well connected to the rest of the Adriatic, the hinterland and the islands of the Zadar archipelago.

The city itself has about 6,000 inhabitants and is traditionally active in agriculture, fisheries and tourism. Biograd has a great historical significance for Croatia, since in the past it was the seat of Croatian kings and bishops as a royal city. Today it is the seat of the surrounding towns and communities. It has all the facilities needed for a comfortable life (shops, pharmacies, banks, post office, library, doctor’s office, dental offices and the like).

There are also three national parks near Biograd: Paklenica, Kornati and Krka and two nature parks: Vrana Lake and Telaščica. In addition to its exceptional natural location, a rich tourist offer attracts many visitors – various events, numerous hotel and apartment accommodation, restaurants and sports facilities.

There are many events taking place in Biograd, some of which are already traditional. The Biograd bike race, the largest exhibition of boats in Croatia Biograd Boat Show, numerous regattas, Biograd Street Music Festival, Biograd Night and Gastro Biograd are just some of them.

Not far from the city center there are many beaches: pebbly beaches Dražica and Bošana, the sandy beaches Soline and Crvena Luka. They are known for dense pine forests and crystal clear sea. In Biograd and on the beaches there are numerous sports and leisure facilities: a modern center for tennis, diving center, basketball, handball, football and volleyball courts and mini golf, and guests can also try surfing and water skiing. A few minutes’ drive from the center of Biograd is Fun Park Biograd amusement park.
