Jasenice

Jasenice is a scattered type of settlement located in the municipality of Zadar, and at the same time in the southern part of the Velebit foothills. This place is located in front of the mouth of the river Zrmanja, only 30 km away from the touristic city of Zadar, as well as from Zadar airport, while the nearest toll booth for the highway is only a few minutes’ drive away. It only takes 5 minutes to drive from the center of this village to the nearest beaches in the Novigrad Sea.

In the center of Jasenice is one of the cultural and historical monuments of this municipality, namely the beautiful church of St. Jeronim, which was built in 1874. Until then, the parish church of the Holy Trinity was in this place.

In the past, the population of this place was mainly engaged in cattle breeding on the suitable plateaus of this beautiful Velebit foothills.

The vicinity of Zrmanja offers for visitors and residents a visit to the beautiful canyon of the Zrmanja river, as well as the viewpoints of Pariževačka glavica and Zrmanja Canyon, from where you can enjoy the most beautiful views of the bends of this wild river that flows in harsh karst, making its way through six canyons. In addition, fans of entertainment and adrenaline on the Zrmanja River can embark on kayaking adventures. When you are in this area, you can easily access various beautiful destinations worth discovering, such as: the karst phenomenon of Tulove grede on Velebit, Velebit pass Mali Alan, one of the most famous in Croatia – Modrič cave, Velebit peak Sveto brdo, the protected monument church of St. Jurja in Rovanjska, which dates back to the 9th or 11th century, the church of St. Frane on the slopes of Velebit, and many other.

Considering the scattered nature of this settlement and the area where it is located, when talking about Jasenice people usually refer to the entire municipality of Jasenice, that except for the place of Jasenice includes places Modrič, Rovanjska and Maslenica. The municipality of Jasenice offers its residents and visitors a wide range of entertainment programs, so you can enjoy: a race/ascent to Libinje, various sports and recreational events (football, basketball, water polo, swimming, multidisciplinary races Zrmanja Triple Challenge etc.), numerous summer festivals (fisherman’s evening, an evening of local cuisine, a mussels festival), fairs, concerts and performances, programs for children (children’s workshops, performances), summer cinema and many other.
