Kali
Kali is located on the island of Ugljan and is the largest place on the island. It has about 1650 inhabitants. The old town with narrow streets and stone houses in the Dalmatian style is located on a hill, from which one has a beautiful view of the surroundings. Kali is predominantly a fishing village, not overwhelmed by tourism which rarely occurs nowadays on the Adriatic. The climate has all the basic features of the Mediterranean climate with extremely dry summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is above 15 ° C, the average temperature of the warmest month of July is 24 ° C and the coldest, January 12 ° C. The number of days with temperatures below 0 ° C is insignificant. Sunlight is about 2,500 hours per year, and in July the sun shines up to 12 hours per day.
It is important to emphasize that Ugljan has the best ferry connection on the Adriatic, so there are 18 ferry lines (Zadar Gaženica – Preko) and 11 shipping lines (Zadar Halbindel – Preko) in the season. The island of Ugljan is connected by a bridge to the island of Pasman. In the village Tkon on the island Pašman there is a ferry port, which is connected to Biograd.
The island of Ugljan is 22 km long, rich in flora and has an excellent infrastructure. There is a school, an ambulance, a pharmacy, shops, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, petrol station, port, etc. During the summer a large number of cultural, sporting and entertainment events take place. The big festival, known as Kuali Fishery Night, has a tradition of over 50 years.
