Mountain race Starigrad – Veliko Rujno

Mountain race Starigrad – Veliko Rujno is an international sport event that promotes sport values and at the same time the beauty of the Velebit mountain. This is one of the oldest mountain races in whole Croatia and extends a 13.6 km long hiking trail. The start is in the center of Starigrad at zero meters above sea level, and the finish is in front of the Church in Veliko Rujno at 920 m above sea level, which makes this race unique in the world. More than 1500 participants from all continents have participated in this already traditional race, which is organized in August every year. Mountain race Starigrad – Veliko Rujno has been organized continuously since 2000 and is inspired by pilgrimages whose tradition dates to the times when people lived on the slopes of Velebit.
