On the traces of Winnetou
The cultural and tourist event “On the traces of Winnetou” is organized every year in the National Park Paklenica and at several other locations in Croatia where, more than 50 years ago, feature films about the Indian chief Winnetou were made. All of them are based on the adventure stories of German author Karl May. The beautiful places on Riviera Paklenica have been preserved in their natural beauty, in which have been enjoyed many adventurers and fans of these films for many years. Meetings of Karl May and Winnetou fans are held every year in Starigrad-Paklenica at the original locations where the films were made. Thus, interpretive panels were set up, a tourist map with filming locations was made and a documentary exhibition was organized every year.
Except this, after a tour of film locations, Winnetou fans can hang out with individual
members of the film crew, and there is also organized literary evenings, horse riding and shooting with bows and arrows. Also, fans can enjoy in entertainment program, an evening in the
open air beside a campfire with country music.
The new tourist offer “On the traces of Winnetou”, a story about a legendary Indian chief, seeks to introduce visitors to this part of Croatian film history, but also to show them the natural beauty and unique experience of the Paklenica Riviera.
