Petrčane

Petrčane is located between the cities of Zadar and Nin and has just over 600 permanent residents. It is known for its mild and pleasant climate, clean sea and rich history. The inhabitants of Petrčane have traditionally been engaged in olive growing, viticulture and maritime, and since the 1950s tourism. It is only 12 km away from the city of Zadar, 16 km from the ferry port, 24 km from the airport and only 32 km from the highway exit.

This place counts over 130 days or 2500 hours of sunshine in a year. In the summer season, Petrčane is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the County of Zadar. The beautiful beaches that stretch over the 5 km long coastline of this place are known for their pine forests and crystal clear sea. The beaches are pebbly, sandy and tiled, the most famous is Punta Radman, Žal, Punta Skala and Pinija. In Petrčane are also located two hotel complexes, one on Punta Radman and the other on Punta Skala, which attracts numerous guests with their location and facilities.

Along the coast of Petrčane there are numerous restaurants and cafes where their visitors can enjoy the beautiful sunset and the view of the Zadar canal and islands in addition to traditional Dalmatian dishes. The so-called Royal Vineyards, located on a hill above Petrčane, have become a favorite destination for all lovers of wine and gastronomy who, in beautiful natural surroundings, offer their own-produced wines and dishes.

The place Petrčane was first mentioned in the records in 1071, which testifies to the centuries-old population of the place. Archaeological findings from this place date back to Roman times, and for centuries this place has been a favorite summer destination of wealthy Zadar nobles.
