Turanj

Turanj

The place of Turanj is located 23 km southeast of Zadar and extends along 4 km of the Pašman Channel. About 1,200 people live in Turanj. Along the coast there are shops, restaurants, bars, camps and a hotel, as well as beaches with numerous footbridges. A well-maintained promenade by the sea connects Turanj with the neighboring town of Sveti Filip i Jakov. From the next major city and transport center to Biogradna Moru, this place is only 7km away, so it is well connected to all parts of Croatia.

Next to the entrance to Turanj is the island of Galešnjak, which is also known as the island of love because of its heart-shaped shape. A mile from Turanj is the only inhabited island in the Pašman Canal, the island of Babac.

Until the mid-20th century, the town of Turanj was surrounded by walls and towers, and in the past, it was owned by various noble families, as well it was one of the places from which the Venetian Republic operated after the conquest of Dalmatia. The rich cultural and archeological heritage is evidenced by numerous archeological remains found in this place.
