Vrsi
Place Vrsi is a small tourist village in the municipality of the same name in the Zadar County, and it is located on one of the peninsulas in the extreme northwestern part of northern Dalmatia.
The municipality of Vrsi abounds in natural beauties such as a beautiful long coast with sandy, pebble and rocky beaches, clear sea and islands. The smaller island of Zečevo is extremely interesting because it becomes an island only during high tide, while during low tide it is a peninsula. Vrsi also offers one of the most beautiful beaches in Zadar County called Duboka Draga.
This place also has a rich cultural heritage, and it has been inhabited for more than 10,000 years, as many archaeological remains claim. After the Venetian-Turkish wars in the 16th and 17th century, the former four villages united the inhabitants in the area of today’s Vrsi. There are also churches from that time in the places of all four villages which are the proof of those facts.
The municipality of Vrsi is one of the youngest municipalities in Croatia, having existed only since 2006, and the places Vrsi and Poljica belong to it. Today, this municipality has over 2,000 inhabitants according to measurements from 2021. Its inhabitants are mainly engaged in tourism, seafaring and agriculture.
Today, Vrsi has become a real tourist destination that offers rest on beautiful beaches with peaceful nature, while the proximity of Zadar gives access to numerous attractions, excursions and rich history.
Vrsi is only a 25-minute away by car froom Zadar, and only a 10-minute drive from the beautiful historic royal town of Nin. Not far from this tourist destination there are the most beautiful national parks in Croatia: National Park Krka, National Park Plitvice, National Park Kornati, National Park Paklenica, National Park North Velebit, and nature parks Vrana Lake and Telašćica.
