Greeting to the Sun
Greeting to the Sun is an urban installation by the famous Zadar architect Nikola Bašić. It is located on the western part of the seafront, next to the Sea Organ. The 22-meter diameter circle is filled with photovoltaic solar modules. It consists of 300 glass panels that absorb sunlight during the day and produce a playful colour at sunset. The name of the Zadar saints and the dates of the holidays are inscribed in the ring surrounding the Sun. There is a declination in the chrome ring besides each holiday of the sun north or south of the Ecuador, the sun’s height in the meridian just on that date and the duration of the day on that holiday which makes this installation some kind of calendar.

Immediately next to Greetings to the Sun, there are shown other planets of the solar system.
Greeting to the Sun is one of the symbols of Zadar and an essential part of viewing. From here you will enjoy in the most beautiful sunset in the world, with the play of light and sounds of the Sea Organ. For many, this is the most beautiful and most romantic part of Zadar.
