The church of St. Donat
The church of St. Donat, located on the Zadar Forum, dates from the 9th century, is the most valuable monument of the early Middle Ages and the symbol of the city of Zadar. It was built by Bishop St. Donat and he called it the Church of the Holy Trinity, but since the 15th century it has been called St. Donat.

The church has been out of sacred function for a long time, but because of its extraordinary acoustic characteristics, it has been hosting traditional music events for decades for the well-known international festival of medieval and renaissance music called “Musical Evenings in St. Donat”. If you are in Zadar, this festival is worth a visit, as well as a viewing of the interior of this church with the particular shape and circular layout.
